Hot, Hot, Hot and Now Cool

The heat is on just about all over the country and what a time to pick up one of our newest items to stay cool or should I say cooler by up to 30%.  Lava Heat- Italia, who brought to this country the very popular Glass tube Outdoor heaters has decided that they need an equally dynamic product for the summer months and are introducing the Oasis misting cooling fan. I was skeptical at first to bring on this product line as my wife, Cathy and I once had a misting fan about 3 years ago that we purchased from Lowes. It worked for a while but was somewhat difficult as it that it had to be located near electricity AND near a water hose connection. It did put out a good amount of spay, so much so that anything it was pointed at eventually became soaking wet. After the second season of use, the smaller hose that sprayed the mist eventually became brittle and broke. Now we have a fan but it no longer mist.

Along comes the Oasis Misting Fan that only needs and electrical connection as it carries its own 5 gallon reservoir of water. The fan is on wheels so that it is very mobile when using a long extension cord. Water is drawn from the reservoir and a stream of water is directed to a spinning plate which creates the mist that is then blown by the fan up to 22’ away.  Excess water is captured             and then returned back the reservoir which is then reused. Unlike our old fan that soaked everything that it was pointed to, the Oasis fine mist  just cools but does not soak. The water will last up to 8 hours. The fan has two speeds, a timer and it rotates 90 degrees and can be controlled by a remote. This is perfect for a commercial environment such as an outdoor restaurant. The manager from say behind the bar can turn the fans on and off, control the rotation and turn the misting on and off.  The fan is also great in factory environments, auto garages, waiting areas public & private pools or anywhere people need to be cooled down.
We recently sold two of the fans to one of our favorite watering holes, The Blue Parrott, here on Lake Norman, NC. The video shows the fan in action.  For only the month of July we are offering our Blog readers a $100 dollar discount. Use Coupon Code OASIS100.

For those following our efforts to restore Sinbad, the 1968 all wood Egg Harbor yacht, the profits from our dedicated PatioandYards web site  for the month of June were $1,414.22 which more brings the total savings to $2664.22.  When work starts in earnest on Sinbad at the rate of $65.00 per hour, that works out to about 40 man hours out of the estimated 1000 man hours that will be needed. Whew, still a long way to go.

Stay tuned and of course, stay cool

March Mad Matness

With the warm winter that a large portion of the United States is experiencing, it is not a stretch to think that a lot of us our experiencing Spring Fever!  We at PatioandYards.com are adding products as fast as we can for your Spring and one of the newest items that we just love are our Mad Mat outdoor rugs.
Most outdoor plastic mats on the market today are made from a combination of virgin polypropylene (PPL) and polystyrene. Mad Mats plastic is completely different. First, pure polypropylene is recycled from used soda bottles, milk bottles, packing, etc. They use only the highest grade of this recycled PPL. Then the PPL  is combined with state of the art conditioners and U.V. inhibitors to produce soft, resilient colorfast threads.

The soft tubular (think spaghetti) threads don’t absorb dirt or stains (think red wine spill) of any kind. Leaves, debris and food spills are easily rinsed away with a garden hose. They are truly carefree! THIS IS A MAJOR ADVANTAGE OF MAD MATS! Most outdoor rugs are a dense weave of spun poly thread. They hold moisture for days which then gets tracked into the house. Grass, food and dirt seep into the fiber where they remain until the rug is pulled up and washed….and dried….and put back in place. YUCK!
Mad Mats breathe. They don’t trap water so they won’t mildew and they won’t rot wooden decks. Water goes right through them and evaporates right back out of them. Walking on Mad Mats the morning after a rainy night will leave your feet dry enough to walk right into the house. The warp is polyester thread which does not rot or mildew either. You put it down and……that’s it!
Our Mad Mats come in sizes 4x6, 5x8 and 6x9 and we ship them for free. To receive a 10% discount during the month of March, use Coupon Code # 3marmm.
Now as for Sinbad, the 1968, 37’ all wooden Egg Harbor boat that will be the beneficiary of your purchase of a Mad Mat or two, sadly, no work was performed during the month of February.
Picture above is of Sinbad being pulled out of the water in 2008.

PatioandYards.com was a brand new website as of just last month. To say that the masses have not found us is a true enough statement, however, one brave sole, did find us and purchased of all things a beautiful  5' x 8' Oriental Garland  Mad Mat. Congratulations to Shirla Miller of Anchorage, Alaska for being our 1st and so far only customer! Our profit of $19.00 was not enough to get our Master Craftsman Pat Crusse of Crusin’s Classics to even think about starting to work on Sinbad.

So onward .... March into Spring!

March Mad Matness starts today!

The First PatioandYards Blog

Welcome to the PatioandYards.com Blog, although as I write this, my first blog post, I know that we have no followers as of this date and that is okay.  As in the movie Field of Dreams, I believe the premise of, “If you build it they will come”, will hold true.  So here you are reading our first blog and for this I thank you.
Now let me introduce ourselves. I go by the name of Captain Bob and I, along 1st mate Cathy (who also doubles as my soul mate and wife) started an Internet retail sales business, way back in the year 2000. We started in our basement and have as of this month finally moved the business out of the house to an actual honest to goodness office building and at the same time have opened our newest website, PatioandYards.com complete with a new Facebook page, a new Twitter account and of course this Blog!
Although we do sell furniture you may see on this blog, and on our Home page that all profits from this web site go to the restoration of an all wooden 1968 Egg Harbor cabin cruiser, and throughout the future writings in this blog, I will keep our followers up to date on the progress of the restoration.   Egg Harbor boats, manufactured in Egg Harbor, NJ have a small but loyal following of “Egg Owners” as we like to refer to ourselves. My Egg’s name is Sinbad and we have owned her for about five years, having bought her from her previous owner, a real character, a good friend, and another Captain Bob, who just recently passed away. In future blogs, I will tell some great Captain Bob tales and stories.
In order to fund the restoration of Sinbad, of course we must sell our wares and so in each blog we will highlight some of our products, and offer discounts for those who follow our blogging.  When we first started selling online, our first website sold only PVC Pipe Furniture, once a long time ago referred to as plumbing pipe furniture.  So this month we will start with PVC Furniture.

PVC furniture is made differently today than when plumbers first put together the medium of their trade, making furniture for their families. PVC furniture today is a niche product that has a loyal following. We see customers that have had their furniture for over 20 years and they say it still looks brand new except for the cushions and slings which for the past 13 years we have been replacing for these customers. This furniture is made with furniture grade PVC that is chip resistant and is imbedded with UV stabilizers for long lasting good looks.  Why do people like this furniture? It is in expensive compared to any other furniture out on the market today, yet it has casual chic appeal. It’s fun furniture.
Late winter and early spring is the best time to prepare for those wonderful days outdoors. Now is the time to replace cushions and slings or possibly purchase a new outdoor set of PVC Pipe Furniture. We represent Casualine Furniture, the leader for the past 40 years in producing PVC Furniture. We will not be under sold. So for the month of February, we are offering a 15% discount on all PVC Furniture that you will find in “For Your Patio / PVC Furniture” Use Coupon Code- pvc15feb .
